The Latest and Greatest!

Sloane is now 18 months old (what?!?!!where as the time gone???) and it's been awhile sine I've posted anything about milestones...so here goes:
Sloane loves books!  She definitely has her favorites (I think we've all read both Little Blue Truck books, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, and anything by Karen Katz at least 100 times!)  I've read the first two mentioned 4 times each today alone...but it really is so much fun to see her excited about books and that her attention span has matured enough for her to actually sit, listen and participate!  Her favorite spot to listen to a story is sitting down in our cross-legged lap...and we love it!

She LOVES Gymboree!  She has become quite the climber and her once a week Gymboree class is the perfect place for her to practice this new skill in a safe (and padded) environment! This has also become a great social opportunity for her!  She enjoys watching and interacting with the other kiddos in class...and we love watching her!

Sloane LOVES going for walks up and down the block!  She will relish in any opportunity to go outside and just meander up and down our block...but she gets especially excited when she has a purpose...i.e. walking her baby in the stroller...

...or walking Bella:
Sloane LOVES "wa-wa"...we all know how much Sloane loves swimming...but it really has evolved into an all encompassing love of water ("wa-wa").
Since spring has sprung and the weather is much warmer down here in So cal...Sloane has been taking ample opportunity to play with her water table.  Every time we walk out into the backyard she promptly yells "wa wa!" This love of h2O continues each night with bath time...she gets so excited to get in that tub of water before bed each day...and we love seeing her face light up and her sweet voice sing out, "wa wa" and "baa" (bath)!

Sloane LOVES horsey rides!!  After two months of apprehension and extreme caution... Sloane has finally warmed up to her rocking horse!  She has not only warmed up to it...she now walks right over, gets on by herself...and starts rocking!  She will even yell out a hearty "yee-huh!" (not quite yee-haw...but its close!)  Thanks, Cupka (grandpa) for making me such a special toy!
Sloane LOVES to talk!!  She has become so vocal in the last 3 months its crazy!!  We just love the sound of her sweet, little voice and are surprised everyday by a new word she suddenly knows.  Her first word was "up" and many more followed...in no particular order:  momma, dada, mimi, cupka (grandpa), pappa, nonna, hi, bye bye, down, please, thank you, no, cacaw (bird), roar (lion), hoo hoo (owl) choo choo, turtle, moon, ball, puff puffs, baby, wa wa, poo poo, cheese, beep beep, apple, more, toes, nose, eyes, teeth, bow, shoes, home, uh oh, whoa, go, bubble, Elmo and car!
There is one more LOVE Sloane is currently pretty excited about...but it deserves a post all its own...

We Belong in the Zoo!!

We are San Diego Zoo members...and oh how we enjoy it!!  We probably go to the zoo at LEAST once a week!  Sloane loves strolling around looking at the animals...and then, getting out of her stroller and walking around on her own pointing out all of the sights to fellow patrons.  She is our own little zoo ambassador!
 Checking out Mommy's favorite...the orangutans!

Looking at the fish in the pygmy hippo exhibit...and doing her very best "fish face:"

All set for another day of fun at the zoo!

Today was extra special because we got to feed the giraffes!! So fun!

 Another favorite: the skyfari!
Sloane loves checking out the sights while flying high above the zoo grounds!

Mimi joined us at the zoo!

The orangutans are so fun to watch...especially this baby orangutan that is just now big enough to swing out on his own!
Looking forward to many more fun zoo memories!

Firehouse Fun!

Sloane loves to visit Daddy at the firehouse.  She is now at the point where whenever she sees an ambulance or fire truck she yells "Dadda!  Dadda!"  She had so much fun playing on the fire engine and squirting water from the hose!
In these first few shots Sloane went down to the station with Daddy for a union meeting...but he ended up missing half the meeting because she could not contain her excitement in being at the firehouse!  She had to get onto that app floor to see those trucks!!

She loves sitting in the driver's seat...just like her Dadda.

She loved being "on the nozzle."

 Lots of fun pressing buttons!

These shots were taken almost exactly a year apart...its amazing how much she's changed in a year...and how fast it has FLOWN by!!!
