For the past couple of years we've been going up to the Santa Ynez valley just north of Santa Barbara to participate in the Santa Barbara wine country half marathon and it has become somewhat of a tradition. It always falls on Mother's Day weekend and now that we are all moms we can't see a better way to spend the holiday!
We all met up in charming Solvang, CA.

After settling into our house we walked around the corner to the Carhartt tasting room.

Will, running the full 13.1, came through Los Olivos first!
The kiddos watched at the relay transition zone about 2 blocks from our house in Los Olivos.
Mommy and Hugo finished the first 6.1 in Los Olivos.
Daddy finished the second half in Solvang...here he is crossing the finish line!

After the run...we rewarded ourselves with a visit to Bridlewood winery. Beautiful grounds, great wine...and lots of room for the kiddos to run around!
And...they have horse and carriage rides!

There is an amazing park/playground not far from our house in Los Olivos...the perfect place to expend some afternoon energy before dinner!

We started Mother's Day off at the ostrich farm in Santa Ynez.
It was actually really fun feeding all the ostrich and emus!
These are baby ostriches...their feathers are leopard print!

We finished the day with wine tasting at one of our favorite spots, Cambria.
What a perfect weekend!
What a busy, fun-filled weekend in the California wine country. Let's see, feeding and petting animals (and pretend riding an ostrich), swinging, watching Mommy and Daddy running, climbing fences, sliding and playing with your friends Lucia and Colin, and to top it off celebrating Mother's Day! What else was there left to do? Taking a good nap maybe?!
