Christmas on the Prado

One of my most memorable Christmas traditions was going to Balboa Park's Christmas on the Prado every year.  We didn't go last year due to rainy weather and I was so happy to finally have the opportunity to share the tradition with Sloane!
All set and ready to go!  Sloane loved people watching at the international houses...always our first stop!  It just doesn't feel like Christmas until we've had Irish Stew, Polish Kielbasa, and Swedish meatballs!  Yum yum!  Sloane loved sampling all of the wonderful food!

Uncle Hugo, Auntie Liz and Baby Colin came along too!
Then Joey, Janell and Baby Landon joined in on the fun!

The organ pavilion was beautiful and Sloane loved listening to the carolers!

 I spy Rudolph!
A trip to Christmas on the Prado is never complete until we've seen the Garden Club Trees.  Each year Garden clubs from around San Diego decorate a tree based on a theme.  The theme this year was "Around the World."
The tree on the left is made entirely of Stag horn ferns...kinda crazy!

This was Daddy's favorite tree...Italy, of course!  Strung with metallic gold pasta and all!

On our way out we stopped at the Balboa Park Railroad to see the beautiful lights!
Such a fun night!

  1. Christmas on the Prado is one of the best San Diego Christmas traditions. Isn't it fun seeing Santa's sleigh and Rudolph? ( I'm surprised your Daddy didn't try to eat the Italian Christmas tree but he was probably full of Irish Stew.)
