Tongue Tied!

When Sloane was around four weeks old we started noticing that she was becoming more and more fussy and especially uncomfortable.  Thanks to a great lactation consultant we figured out that she was tongue tied.  This means that her frenulum (the tissue underneath your tongue that connects it to the floor of your mouth) was too tight causing her to have a difficult time feeding.  Luckily we found a great dentist, Dr. James Jesse, that corrected the problem in under 2 minutes using a laser procedure that he developed.

Here is Sloane and Daddy wearing their laser glasses before the procedure.  Brian had to hold Sloane during the procedure...Mommy couldn't watch! Both were troopers...despite the unhappy look on Sloane's face:

After the procedure, Sloane had to go through 5 sessions of cranio-sacral therapy to help re-train her tongue how to feed correctly.  She loved going to see Dr. Chelf in Solana Beach...we liked to call them her massage sessions.  Here is Dr. Chelf working her magic:

Four weeks later and Sloane is doing awesome!  She is now a very efficient eater and much happier little lady!

And look how far she can stick her tongue out!
