SGV turns O-N-E!

I can't believe it's been a year!  Its true what they say...time REALLY does fly!...and a first birthday means LOTS of celebrations!  We started the celebration by having some first year photos taken:

 Time for cake!

She was very tentative...and totally unsure...

...and then didn't like it at all!!
But once we took the cake away and cleaned off her hands it didn't take long for her smile to return!

Sloane's birthday is on September 10th and on that day we had a nice family party at our house.

Sloane had fun opening her cards and presents from her grandparents.

She got a fun water table from Mimi and Grandpa:
and she got a really cool wagon from Papa and Nonna:
Then we headed outside to check out Mommy and Daddy's gift:
 a ball pit!

and she's still having tons of fun in it!

After dinner we sang happy birthday (which she LOVED) and had birthday cake (which she didn't).
Since Sloane doesn't know how to make a wish yet...we wrote out our wishes for Sloane on wish paper...lit them...and watched them float away.

Sloane especially liked watching them float away!

Her first birthday also means finishing her first year monthly photos.  Here is Sloane's one month picture:
and here is her 12 month picture:

Standing up all by herself!

And what's a first birthday without a PARTY?!!!  We planned a party at Mimi and Grandpa's house with all of our nearest and dearest.  Here is the invitation:

The party had a New York theme...what else?

Party-goers filled out a time capsule prediction for Sloane to open when she turns 18...some of the questions included: What college will she attend?...How many countries will she have visited?...
and...What kind of car does she drive?
It was so much fun visiting with all of our friends and family!

The ball pit was a huge hit at the party as well!

...and what's a New York themed party without some hot dogs?  Yummy!

...and then it was time for cake...lets see if it was 3rd times the charm?

...again, Sloane LOVED it when everyone sang "Happy Birthday!"

Even though she looks pretty happy...she pushed that cake away and wanted nothing to do with it!
The party ended with yummy chocolate and vanilla cupcakes!

What a FUN celebration!!
